Traveling without leaving your seat

They say that if you cannot go there yourself (physically), then you can close your eyes and imagine yourself there. These days it has been made so much easier - taking the virtual trip.
When you go to:
there are photos and videos of all the places of the world. Also different articles about traveling and tips on how to make it more exciting. Like
"Ten Experiences Guaranteed to Give You The Shivers"
  1. Witnessing the daily migration of bats from Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico
  2. Viewing the life-size terra-cotta warriors of Xi'an,China.
  3. Diving among the ghost fleet submerged in Chuck Lagoon, Micronesia
  4. Roaming Vlad the Impaler's medieval castle in Transylvania, Romania
  5. Exploring the other worldly landscape of the Badlands, South Dakota
  6. Venturing on a night time safari in Kenya
  7. Sailing through the ice floes of Antarctica
  8. Watching streams of Buddhist monks emerge at sunrise in Ladakh, India
  9. Indulging in dinner at Taillevent in Paris
  10. Bounding up at The Ice Hotel in Sweden

Hawaiin trip vol 2

I'm leaving for Hawaii in 10 days - very exited !!!

5 days a go I had my visa interview which was an interesting experience. From the USA embassy's side it was perfect - people really nice and friendly. But the other people applying for a visa there were somewhat peculiar.

Anyways, what to pack? As I have gotten advice from various people:
  • summer clothes :D (bathing suit included)
  • sleeping bag - so if you can't find an apartment soon enough you could enjoy the beach and its full comfort
  • a new pen - to write postcards to all your friends
  • hygiene products (never go anywhere without a tooth brush!)
  • having money would be useful - so if you forgot something you could buy
  • etc
what people have said about clothes on the other hand is that there is no point of taking many because you will end up buying new ones anyway ;)

I know that the first thing you should do when you get there is to get an social security number, but I will probably hit the beach :D

Which reminds me that I also in order to get a working permit have to get a TB shot (and I'm rather afraid of injections)

If anyone has any advice let me know ;)

Going on a Cruise

Mostly I have been writing about flying cheap or hitch hiking but there are also another way - ships.
When traveling in Baltic region then you could take

  • http://www.tallink.ee/ - at the moment the prices in Tallink vary between 300-700eek , depends on where your going and how comfortable you wanna be.
  • http://www.vikingline.ee/ - here the prices are lower (from 250-600eek) but the ships do not go as often as with tallink

of course there are many more, but the list would be to long
But if you're interested then go and check out this webpage
  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shipping_company - here you can find all the bigger shipping companies in the world

On the other hand if interested in more, than you could always go on a cruise. at the moment there is a rather good offer on http://www.cruisedeals.com/deals/bestdeals.asp?deal=1774, where they offer a 3 Night Bahamas Cruise for 179 dollars - not bad :) There are also other good offers there

on http://www.expedia.com/daily/deals/lastminute_deals/cruisedeals.asp you can find last minute offers on cruises

Watch out!

This is a useful site to check out. A friend of mine gave me this address

and told me that on this site there is a world map which is updated every 5 minutes, with recent happenings - such as terrorist acts, explosions or bomb threats, shootings, accidents etc. If you would click on the flashing symbol then you get to see the full news story.

The problem with this site is that you have to pay for it - 49$ per year for an individual.

I personally wouldn't pay for it, but for someone who is interested in such information, I guess it is not much.
